About Me!
Hi there! My name is Anna and I am just beginning my career in Elementary Education. I am very eager and excited to see where this path leads.
I grew up in Newtown, Connecticut and I began exploring teaching as a possible career choice when I volunteered as a high schooler to help teach religious education to grades 3 through 5. My final year volunteering impacted me the most and made me realize just how much I enjoyed the work I was doing.
In college at Fairfield University, I explored what Fairfield had to offer for elementary education. There, I was able to work with a wide variety of schools and grades, further developing my experience. From freshman through senior year, I spent semesters assisting at a school in Bridgeport, working with students in grades 3 through 6. This multi-year program allowed me to observe different teaching styles and learning processes. In my final undergraduate year, I worked as a long-term substitute first-grade teacher in Stratford.
For my graduate school year, I completed a full-time internship and student teaching program at a grade 3 through 5 school in Wilton, with grade 5 as my student teaching experience. Through each of these opportunities, I both grew in confidence in my teaching abilities and observed varying techniques other teachers used to adapt to student needs.
The courses that I completed have fostered my skills and understanding of student development and growth. I have been able to implement strategies that I have learned to help bring out the best in students.
